YOUR STORY in the House Of Stories! SOLD OUT
YOUR STORY in the House Of Stories! SOLD OUT
I’ve left a space in my "House Of Stories" for YOUR story.
* Is there an object from your past you’d like to see illustrated in the gatefold vinyl and CD?
* Would you like to pay tribute to a loved one?
On the new album cover I planned out all the rooms and listed meaningful objects to go in each one.
Can you spot The Launchpad, The Stargazing Room, The Archive, The Post Office, The Snug and The Attic?
Illustrator Jessica Wild did a beautiful job of decorating the rooms with objects from my musical past: a paper boat for the “Drown Me Out” video, the white tiger head from the “Slow Puncture” video”, the cardboard robot head from the “Porcupine” video, even my dear old friend Mister Benji pays a visit!
Now it’s your turn!
I want this experience to be accessible to everyone, so instead of setting a price I will be accepting sealed bids, with a maximum of 20 spots available.
This is not a competition: your bid will be considered whatever the amount you pledge.
It's also not a writing competition! If you're not comfortable writing down a long version of your story you could say something as simple as "a blue vase with a red rose for Auntie Edna, who ate peaches every day and loved me very much" (she sounds cool...I just made her up).
I’m so excited to hear your story xxx

How to apply
Just email me - laura@penfriend.rocks - with the subject title OBJECT, describe the object, tell me why it’s meaningful to you (this bit is essential!) and name your price.
** Deadline: Friday 29th November **
If your object and story is chosen, I'll contact you by Monday 2nd December with next steps.
--------------------------------------------
How much should I bid?
That’s entirely up to you. A “winning bid" doesn't necessarily mean it’s the highest bid, it means your object was chosen for inclusion in the illustration.
This is a unique opportunity to be included in a beautiful piece of art that will live in homes around the world, and I’d love to include your story.
What you get:
* Chosen objects will appear in the basement of the House Of Stories in another beautiful illustration by Jessica Wild - all will be revealed when you open up the gatefold vinyl and CD.
* Your name (and/or the name of the person you’re paying tribute to) will appear in the album credits.
* Your story will appear in the House Of Stories hardback book (edited by yours truly as needed).
* Winning bids of any level will receive a high quality digital download of the basement illustration and the written up story PLUS a signed postcard sent in the mail.
* Winning bids of £100 and up will receive a signed print of the basement illustration.

How this works + timeline
Step 1: you email me your object, story and amount you want to pay by Friday 29th November.
Step 2: I read all the stories and probably have a good cry about how beautiful they are.
Step 3: I’ll contact everyone who’s applied by Monday 2nd December latest, then confirm the chosen objects by sending an invoice.
Step 4: Illustration begins shortly afterwards, so invoices need to be paid by Friday 6th December for the object to be included.
Step 5: Postcards and prints will be posted out in January 2025.
